About the position

The Systems Engineer IV position at Abbott focuses on managing and maintaining requirements life-cycle management activities, ensuring that product development aligns with customer needs and regulatory standards. This role involves collaboration with various engineering teams to configure and administer the DOORS Requirements Management tool, develop design processes, and ensure compliance with quality systems. The position is crucial for delivering high-quality products in the diabetes care sector.

Responsibilities

  • Configure product requirements architecture using the DOORS Next Generation tool across all projects and programs.
  • Administer the DOORS Requirements Management tool across a multi-disciplined engineering department.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand their specific use cases relative to DOORS.
  • Augment built-in DOORS functionality by creating custom scripting.
  • Troubleshoot, refine, and deploy updates to existing DOORS tools and scripts.
  • Configure and deploy additional tools within the engineering department.
  • Configure and deploy web pages and services hosted by DOORS ELM.
  • Perform product definition, system architecture, requirements writing, and management.
  • Conduct risk analysis, hazard analysis, product test and evaluation, and design control documentation.
  • Develop design processes and conduct system level characterization/verification of complex systems.
  • Communicate effectively and participate on cross-functional development teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or physical science or related engineering field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of product development experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in an administrative capacity with the DOORS Requirement Management tool.
  • Strong understanding of DOORS ELM architecture and its use in managing complex requirements sets for large projects.
  • Proficiency in DXL (DOORS eXtension Language) to write scripts extending DOORS capabilities through automation of processes.
  • Strong knowledge of defined development processes consistent with ISO, FDA design control standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Electro-mechanical, software, mathematical, chemical or biochemical technologies as they pertain to diagnostic systems.
  • Ability to work on multiple subjects concurrently.
