About the position

The Systems Engineer IV position at Spectrum involves leading the planning, design, development, and implementation of innovative application and platform solutions related to security and service delivery. This role is crucial for ensuring the stability and efficiency of the back office infrastructure and data centers, while also driving best practices in operational procedures. The engineer will mentor staff, troubleshoot major system issues, and document project requirements to ensure high-quality project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of the application and platform ecosystem and related back office infrastructure and data centers.
  • Demonstrate competence in IT operations, application monitoring, deployment, and configuration management.
  • Represent the Engineering Department and collaborate with Architects and Engineers on new technologies.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to the engineering team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve major APO and system issues.
  • Assist in design and operational efficiencies as business objectives evolve.
  • Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, and testing.
  • Mentor and train other Engineering personnel in networking systems.
  • Research and identify technology opportunities for the business.
  • Test and validate new hardware and software configurations.
  • Adhere to industry regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum six (6) years of System or Server Administration experience.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications.
  • Systems knowledge (Linux, Unix).
  • Infrastructure knowledge (Raw Iron, Steel Cloud, ElasticCloud, OpenStack, AWS).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • In-depth knowledge in areas of specialty for specific applications.
  • Basic Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
  • Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools.
  • Expert knowledge of software design tools, such as Visio.
  • Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment.
