About the position

The Systems Engineer - Journeyman will support the Pre-Deployment Software Support (PDSS) contract at Aberdeen Proving Ground, focusing on developing automated system updates and patches for military systems. This role involves analyzing, designing, and implementing information systems to meet user requirements and enhance system functionality.

Responsibilities

• Assess the suitability of information systems in terms of their intended outcomes and liaise with end users and programmers.
• Analyze and evaluate major system project requirements of considerable complexity.
• Review user requirements and provide direction in identifying problems and potential resolutions.
• Provide analytical support in the conceptualization, development, and implementation of complex, inter-linked systems.
• Define system objectives and prepare system design specifications to meet user requirements.
• Interact with users to translate their requirements into system, hardware, and software requirements and design.
• Sync with developers to collect builds, apply configuration management, and validate completeness of build.
• Participate in the development of test strategies, devices, and systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other Engineering or Technical discipline (or 2+ years of additional experience in lieu of degree).
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Systems Engineer analyzing, designing, and implementing information systems within the last 7 years.
• Familiarity with VMWare and VSphere, deploying templates, and creating Windows and Linux templates.
• Technical writing experience with the ability to translate development-level requirements into user-friendly documentation.
• Intermediate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Skilled in oral and written communications in English.
• Ability to work in a combined government/contractor team.
