About the position

As a Systems Engineer at VTI Security, you will be responsible for analyzing business and contractual requirements to define systems architecture and technical design packages. This role involves collaboration with Systems Designers/Engineers and the Project Management team to ensure the technical requirements align with project work and the suitability of product offerings within client environments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high level system designs during the pre-sales cycle, including conducting site surveys and device mark-ups.
• Produce detailed design drawings and technical descriptions of physical security and supporting architectures.
• Develop design documents to guide the installation and configuration of systems.
• Create financial and logistics estimates in collaboration with sales, marketing, and project management teams.
• Manage time effectively to prioritize projects, tasks, and meetings.
• Establish and document processes to support design efficiency and scalability.
• Build productive relationships with clients and key stakeholders to enhance organizational credibility.
• Maintain awareness of productivity and profitability of work carried out by the organization.
• Pursue ongoing education and professional development in technology systems.

Requirements

• A minimum of three years of design experience in Security, AV, networking, or instrumentation and controls.
• Field experience in a construction environment is an asset.
• Strong understanding of physical security technologies and trends.
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu, IP networks, low voltage electronics, and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of fundamental concepts related to IP networks and low voltage electronics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Post-secondary education in Business, Construction Management, Electronics, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Preferred professional designation: P.Eng, EIT, CET, or equivalent.
• Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Motivated self-starter with ambition to research new technologies.
