About the position

The Systems Engineer - Level II is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure and integrity of customer systems, serving as an escalation point for technical issues, and providing insights on technical project designs. This role involves analyzing customer needs, implementing solutions, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements while also mentoring junior technicians and performing administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the infrastructure and integrity of customers systems
  • Serve as escalation point for solving technical problems and issues
  • Provide insight and input on the design of technical projects
  • Act as a resource on the implementation of technical projects
  • Analyze customer needs and engineer solutions to meet those needs while understanding customer constraints
  • Possess and maintain knowledge of network and server environments including Server Operating Systems, Virtualization Technology, E-Mail platforms, Cloud Services, Networking and Security
  • Perform administrative duties including logging hours, maintaining customer documentation, and using company-approved data entry system
  • Communicate with customers as required, keeping them informed of incident progress and notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Draft and maintain documentation of technical processes for internal and external use
  • Serve as Technical Mentor to Junior Technicians
  • Exercise independent judgment in the interest of the company as a substantial part of the work day
  • Obtain training and certifications to further goals of self and the company
  • Provide ideas/insights as to new products or services that the company can offer its clients
  • Perform after hours customer support as required
  • Meet (at a minimum) company Service Level Agreements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Professional IT Certifications such as Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, Citrix CCEA or CCIA, SonicWall CSSA, Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP
  • Understanding of network topologies, IP routing, switching, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years experience in IT engineering
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills including the ability to ask relevant questions, effectively listen, provide information, and collaborate with others in a positive way
  • Ability to take ownership and follow-through on responsibilities
  • Ability to quickly analyze a situation and follow a systematic approach to problem resolution
  • Ability to manage time and multiple tasks/priorities
  • Ability to learn new procedures and concepts and apply them quickly and effectively
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Attention to detail, clear and concise writing skills
  • Cooperation, trust and teamwork skills
  • Effectively use internal and external support resources and options
