About the position

The Linux System Administrator position at Premier Health is an intermediate-level role focused on creating, configuring, and managing system and storage solutions that support critical applications. The role involves engineering, installing, administering, and maintaining IT infrastructure, including servers, clusters, and storage systems. The position emphasizes maximizing infrastructure reliability and performance through monitoring, troubleshooting, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes providing guidance and mentoring to colleagues while ensuring compliance with infrastructure standards and change management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with gathering requirements from stakeholders to execute, build, test, and implement solutions that meet customer goals.
  • Research and understand Premier Health IT policies, procedures, and practices, particularly regarding incident handling and service level agreements.
  • Monitor and manage system performance, availability, reliability, resources, and capacity planning.
  • Perform system and storage maintenance upgrades, including service packs, patches, and security remediation, while complying with change management policies.
  • Design, set up, and configure complex system environments that support enterprise applications.
  • Utilize virtualized technologies for effective infrastructure solutions.
  • Implement and manage cloud-based solutions.
  • Create documentation and diagrams to represent physical and logical environments.
  • Incorporate redundancy and disaster recovery solutions into all systems and storage.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with 6+ years of experience or Bachelor degree with 4+ years of experience in Computer Science, Business Administration, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 5 - 7 years of job-related experience, preferably as a Server or Systems Engineer or Administrator.
  • Licensure/Certification: LPIC, RHCE, RHCSA, LFCS recommended; MCSA, MCSE recommended; VCP, VCAP, VCIX, VCDX recommended; CCA, CCP, CCE recommended.
  • Good working knowledge of Cisco networking, Netscaler, VoIP, and Unified Communications.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Server Administration, Red Hat Linux Server Administration, EMC SAN Administration, VMware, Active Directory, ADFS, and Citrix.
