About the position

As a mixed-signal audio Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of low power mixed-signal data converter ICs specifically designed for portable audio applications. Your primary responsibility will be to contribute to the Marketing Requirements Document and develop detailed Design and Test Specifications. This position requires close collaboration with customers as well as internal teams including design, applications, validation, marketing, and product-test organizations. You will be expected to define system and performance requirements, feature sets, and architecture definitions for complex IC designs that involve digital audio converters (ADC/DAC) and Digital Signal Processing (DSP). In this role, you will need to consider various product requirements such as customer specifications, digital and analog process technologies, packaging options, and design/system constraints. You will propose viable solutions based on these considerations. Effective communication of ideas and specifications to both technical and non-technical audiences is essential, as you will be responsible for authoring, reviewing, and updating design specifications (datasheets) and validation test plans. You will also participate in architecture reviews, IC-level design reviews, and board-level design reviews alongside design engineering, applications, validation, and product test engineers. Conducting thorough competitive analysis and participating in industry conferences and forums will be part of your responsibilities to ensure device compatibility with adopted standards. The position requires you to manage competing customer and project-related priorities autonomously, and you should expect to travel approximately 2 to 5 weeks per year, both domestically and internationally, to interface directly with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Tier 1 customers and internal teams to define system and performance requirements for complex IC designs.
  • Consider product requirements such as customer needs, process technologies, and design constraints to propose viable solutions.
  • Communicate ideas and specifications to technical audiences and author/update design specifications and validation test plans.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and IC-level design reviews with various engineering teams.
  • Perform competitive analysis and participate in industry conferences to ensure device compatibility with standards.
  • Manage competing customer and project-related priorities autonomously.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years experience in architecting, specifying, and designing low power, mixed signal components with an Integrated Circuit (IC) provider.
  • Strong understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits and system-level design fundamentals.
  • Experience in power electronics, PWM amplifier, or power supply design.
  • Familiarity with mixed signal IC definition/design methodology and system-level electrical-circuit debugging.
  • Experience with MATLAB for circuit/filter and system-level simulations.
  • Knowledge of digital audio interface technologies and specifications.
  • Understanding of digital audio signal processing theory and algorithm development.
  • Verilog/RTL coding experience, with emphasis on digital design.
  • Familiarity with audio-testing techniques and measurement equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Visio.
  • Familiarity with Audio Precision hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of Linux/ALSA/Android environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and Perl.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth within a leading semiconductor company.
