About the position

The Systems Engineer at Maximus Inc. will lead innovative AI/ML and data initiatives for the Department of Defense's Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). This role involves driving collaborative technical projects, developing data mesh design patterns, and ensuring interoperability across complex multi-vendor environments while adhering to DoD standards and policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure consortium members are working towards a common interoperable technical vision.
• Provide collaborative technical leadership to establish high-level data mesh design patterns and proofs of concept.
• Identify and develop solutions to mitigate technical risks and ensure compliance with global standards.
• Create and review technical documentation, including diagrams and design documents.
• Assist in evaluating new products and services, making recommendations for improvements.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor in formulating technical approaches and selecting tools for AI solutions.
• Consult with organizations to exchange complex technical information.
• Ensure functional and performance analysis models reflect operational performance requirements.

Requirements

• Active Secret security clearance is required.
• Bachelor's Degree plus at least 4 years of experience, or a Master's Degree plus 2 years of experience in Systems Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of network capacity planning, security principles, and management best practices.
• Experience with network design and data exchange standards such as APIs and cloud storage.
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Proficient in Python programming and industry-standard Software Engineering software.
• Familiarity with Data Mesh Design, Systems of Systems, Zero Trust Architecture, and Microservice Architecture.
