About the position

The Systems Engineer position at the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) C4ISR Systems Division involves providing expert support to the U.S. Government in acquiring the Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System. This role focuses on collaborating with the government team to assess the prime contractor's design, explore alternative approaches, and produce technical documentation that adheres to defense industry best practices and systems engineering principles. The position is based in Ogden, UT, and offers a dynamic work environment that values employee contributions and innovative solutions in defense technology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise support to the U.S. Government team for the Sentinel ICBM System.
  • Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines within SDL and on government and prime contractor teams.
  • Assess integrated software/hardware to monitor and collect telemetry from complex system tests.
  • Ensure subsystems are designed for integration across the system.
  • Enable government ownership of the delivered baseline.
  • Participate in requirements and design analysis, including digital engineering artifacts.
  • Provide expertise on the decomposition of system-level requirements to the lowest level of configured items.
  • Identify and document technical risk mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a software-related technical field (e.g., computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering).
  • At least 3 years of relevant systems engineering experience demonstrating a strong grasp of systems engineering processes.
  • Experience working with DOORS and Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Strong team and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience as a systems engineer.
  • Experience with cyber systems engineering.
  • DoD program office experience.
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Active DoD TS//SCI clearance.
