About the position

At Jacobs, we are committed to redefining how to solve the world's greatest challenges, and as a Systems Engineer in the Space Nuclear Propulsion (SNP) sector, you will play a crucial role in this mission. This position involves providing systems engineering support to the Systems Planning and Technical Leadership Branch, the Definition and Integration Branch, and the SNP Office. You will assist in the Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operations (DRACO) flight demonstration insight effort and help prepare the Nuclear Propulsion Technology Maturation (NPTM) Project to enter its Formulation Phase. Your contributions will include leadership and support for the development of systems engineering and project planning products for the SNP Office, as well as supporting subsequent activities where these products are assessed and matured. In this role, you will coordinate and interface with multiple engineering disciplines, system elements, cross-program elements, and customers. You will participate in reviews, technical interchange meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies. Your responsibilities will also include supplying leadership and support for the development of key systems engineering products, including the implementation of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for technical and strategic support to the SNP program and project milestone events. You will develop strategy models using MBSE tools such as MagicDraw to create and maintain a comprehensive roadmap for SNP, and you will use these tools to create and maintain an architecture model for the DRACO technology demonstrator. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering technical programmatic briefings, supporting design reviews to ensure that hardware, software, and interface requirements are addressed, and exercising your technical aerospace engineering and/or nuclear propulsion knowledge to identify technical issues, risks, and performance deficiencies. This position requires a strong understanding of requirements analysis, modeling and simulation, and the technical implementation of verification methods. You will also evaluate design requirements and constraints under which systems and equipment must operate, ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned with the overall goals and objectives.
