About the position

The Systems Engineer for the F-16/FA-50 System Integration and Test (SI&T) team at Lockheed Martin is responsible for leading the technical execution of avionics system level testing for various aircraft configurations. This role involves operating as a Product Owner or Technical Coordinator, conducting integration testing, and supporting flight tests for navigation systems and other avionics capabilities. The position requires collaboration with team members to develop test procedures, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical execution of system integration and testing of aircraft avionics for assigned capability area.
  • Conduct avionics software and hardware integration testing in a laboratory environment.
  • Support avionics troubleshooting both on the aircraft and in the lab.
  • Develop and review test procedures based on system requirements.
  • Develop and conduct automated test scripts.
  • Perform technical reviews of the team's work.
  • Lead the integration and testing of new capabilities.
  • Organize and coordinate testing and troubleshooting activities with test leads.
  • Implement improvement initiatives.
  • Support team technical roadmaps.
  • Provide programmatic support.
  • Train new engineers in technical areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar STEM discipline.
  • Aircraft avionics experience.
  • System-level testing experience.
  • Leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Physically able to access aircraft cockpit test fixtures and conduct lab testing for typical 6-hour test shifts.
  • Willingness to conform with flight line dress code and FOD requirements.
  • Fighter aircraft avionics experience including A-G weapons, UAI, A-A weapons, sensors/pods, communication systems, navigation systems, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with testing of avionics software and hardware.
  • Experience operating as an agile team lead such as a Product Owner or Scrum Master.
  • Expert in data analysis, problem identification/isolation, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient understanding of the systems engineering process.
  • Experience in reviewing electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
