About the position

The position involves advancing the Integrated Discrimination and Electronic Protection capabilities of the Missile Defense System (MDS) through model-based systems engineering (MBSE). The role focuses on requirements generation, analysis, and the development of engineering artifacts to enhance missile defense capabilities. The successful candidate will engage in high-impact projects that contribute to national security, working collaboratively within a dedicated team at Lockheed Martin.

Responsibilities

  • Perform model-based systems engineering (MBSE) functional and behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced threats.
  • Participate in a MBSE environment to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis.
  • Contribute to publishing change notices to MDA's system specification and update requirements databases, architectural models, and interface definitions.
  • Document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by stakeholders.
  • Create and present briefings within the team and to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and supporting stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree.
  • Strong technical background in architecture development, functional decomposition, requirements development and allocation, and interface definition with system-modelling tools.
  • Knowledge of SysML to describe behaviors of a complex DoD system.
  • Ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations, and discussions.
  • Good communication skills and capability to work independently and within a small team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong prior experience with MSOSA (Cameo) and DOORS.
  • Experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains.
  • Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems.
  • Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system.
