About the position

The Systems Engineer - Structured Cabling role at Encore Electric involves supporting preconstruction managers in solution selling, ensuring compliance with specifications, and maintaining effective communication with clients and team members. The position emphasizes safety, accuracy in project documentation, and the ability to conceptualize and estimate project requirements. The engineer will work closely with vendors and participate in project meetings to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Support preconstruction managers with solution selling into prospect account base.
  • Ensure safety as the number one priority.
  • Follow company and client worksite practices and policies.
  • Review drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Understand specifications and maintain compliance.
  • Upload and download documents from document share sites.
  • Follow company direction on preferred selection of vendors and products.
  • Work with vendors to obtain best solutions and competitive pricing.
  • Attend site walks and preconstruction meetings as required.
  • Perform layouts for budget development and coordination with the electrical team.
  • Conduct full take offs, counting devices and equipment, and entering information into the estimating system.
  • Develop Technology Solutions preconstruction and project schedule as part of proposal response.
  • Participate in vendor selections and scope leveling subcontractor bids.
  • Attend turnover and job kickoff meetings with operations staff to cover project details and expectations.
  • Meet deadlines, sometimes within strict timeframes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of industry experience in technology/low voltage systems.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling, security, access control, and audio visual installations.
  • Experience with CAD, Bluebeam, and/or Visio.
  • Ability to conceptualize and visualize project constructability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • AVIXA/BICSI or manufacturer certifications.
  • Experience with Jetbuilt or other estimating software.
