About the position

The Systems Engineer-Technical Staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory is responsible for leading a team in systems engineering activities for large programs focused on national security. This role involves developing and tracking requirements, architecting systems, and planning verification and validation activities. The position requires collaboration across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines to build prototypes for satellites and airborne payloads.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team performing systems engineering activities for a large program.
  • Develop, flow down, and track requirements for systems.
  • Architect systems and develop an MBSE model of the systems and their interfaces.
  • Plan and lead verification and validation activities.
  • Identify risks and define risk mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aero/Astro, Software Engineering with systems engineering for space or airborne systems preferred, or an MS degree with 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a PhD.
  • Ability to support a full range of systems engineering activities for multiple programs.
  • Ability to use a systems perspective to identify needed technology development efforts.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce and present professional written reports and presentations.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with integration of hardware and software is helpful.
