About the position
The Systems Engineer position at Cognito Cyber Group is focused on maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization. This role is critical in supporting the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense by providing essential IT services and solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
- Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, ensuring all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
- Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field.
- Top Secret/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is required.
- Strong knowledge of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization technologies.
- Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Ability to provide technical documentation and specifications for IT infrastructure.

- Previous experience in a helpdesk or desktop support role.
