About the position

As a Systems Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunities by connecting and enhancing the systems that matter most. This position involves developing and applying advanced engineering methods to solve complex system requirements, managing VMware infrastructure, and ensuring the operational integrity of both physical and virtual servers. You will be at the forefront of innovation, contributing to the safety and efficiency of agency operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply advanced engineering and design methods to solve complex system requirements.
• Operate and sustain VMware infrastructure, including updating, testing, and deploying vSphere and vCenter product releases.
• Manage and administer physical and virtual servers, primarily Windows and Linux servers.
• Support server virtualization, provisioning, physical server maintenance, and security compliance.
• Maintain server lifecycle including provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of hardware.
• Monitor the health status and performance of the virtual server infrastructure.
• Implement and maintain compliance with information security policies and technical standards.
• Troubleshoot and configure network components and operating systems to improve reliability and performance.
• Integrate new technologies into existing systems and manage the transition of corporate systems.
• Provide installation and operational support for voice and data communications systems.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree and 8+ years of related experience.
• Top Secret/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph.
• Working technical competency in Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and VMware/ESXI/Xen Hypervisors.
• Hands-on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies.
• Experience with SAN, NAS, and iSCSI storage implementations.
• Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments.
• Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies.
• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools.
