About The Position

As a Systems Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunities by connecting and enhancing the systems that matter most. Requirements

  • BA/BS degree and 8+ years of related experience.
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph.
  • Working technical competency in Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and VMware/ESXI/Xen Hypervisors.
  • Hands-on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies.
  • Experience with SAN, NAS, and iSCSI storage implementations.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments.
  • Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies.
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply advanced engineering and design methods to solve complex system requirements.
  • Operate and sustain VMware infrastructure, including updating, testing, and deploying vSphere and vCenter product releases.
  • Manage and administer physical and virtual servers, primarily Windows and Linux servers.
  • Support server virtualization, provisioning, physical server maintenance, and security compliance.
  • Maintain server lifecycle including provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of hardware.
  • Monitor the health status and performance of the virtual server infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain compliance with information security policies and technical standards.
  • Troubleshoot and configure network components and operating systems to improve reliability and performance.
  • Integrate new technologies into existing systems and manage the transition of corporate systems.
  • Provide installation and operational support for voice and data communications systems.
