About the position

The Systems Engineer at TEKsystems is responsible for overseeing a variety of moderately complex analytical and technical assignments, providing subject matter expertise for technology and infrastructure systems, and managing infrastructure projects and upgrades. The role involves ensuring the availability and security of infrastructure services, developing documentation, and providing support for hardware and software issues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a variety of moderately complex analytical and technical assignments.
• Provide subject matter expertise and advice for assigned technology and infrastructure systems.
• Plan, manage, and implement infrastructure projects and upgrades.
• Assist in the design and documentation of infrastructure processes, procedures, and standards.
• Ensure availability of infrastructure services by implementing, monitoring, and supporting servers, storage, and other services.
• Facilitate management of future problems by preparing clear and concise documentation.
• Maintain appropriate records of time spent, actions taken, and item status.
• Provide training or arrange for vendor training for system users.
• Ensure infrastructure and data security by tracking assets.
• Develop operational, installation, configuration, and upgrade documentation for communication systems and hardware.
• Provide on-site or remote access diagnoses and resolution to hardware and software problems.
• Manage moderate to complex service requests through resolution or escalation.
• Work with external suppliers for ongoing support and maintenance of relevant hardware and software.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with other infrastructure staff.
• Keep users informed of progress through problem resolution.
• Work with third parties to provide infrastructure support and troubleshooting.
• Perform preventive maintenance work and monitor hardware, software, and network systems.

Requirements

• Experience with Active Directory, VMware, Azure, Veeam, Cisco networking, and Microsoft 365.
• Strong knowledge of system administration, storage virtualization, and security.
• Ability to develop operational and configuration documentation.
• Experience in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software problems.

Nice-to-haves

• Certifications in relevant technologies.
• Experience with scripting and automation.
