About the position

The Systems Engineer role focuses on operating, modernizing, and protecting core systems infrastructure within a hybrid cloud environment. This position requires a blend of technical skills across various on-prem, IaaS, and SaaS technologies, with direct responsibilities over servers, cloud infrastructure, backups, and automation tools. The engineer will implement improvements to existing systems and processes while ensuring day-to-day operations are healthy, including uptime, vulnerabilities, and recovery. This role offers a chance for a technically skilled individual to solve complex problems and grow in systems automation, working closely with the Systems Engineering and Security teams under the Systems Engineering Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day operational tasks to ensure the performance, security, and availability of a geographically dispersed, hybrid-cloud environment.
  • Perform backup & replication configuration and testing and ensure recovery of all systems infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement automations to reduce operational overhead of common systems tasks.
  • Maintain and update all internal server application stacks, and handle vulnerabilities.
  • Provide expertise and implement technical solutions to solve problems.

Requirements

  • 3+ years as a Systems Administrator or equivalent experience across at least two of the following disciplines: Systems Design and Implementation, Active Directory, Azure AD, RBAC, DNS, and DHCP, Server Management Experience (Windows, Linux, etc.), Enterprise Virtualization Technologies (VMware, etc.), Enterprise Backup and Replication technologies.
  • Familiarity or exposure to Cloud Infrastructure Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
  • Familiarity or exposure to Storage Area Network Management (iSCSI or FC).
  • Familiarity or exposure to Databases (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Familiarity or exposure to Server Monitoring Tools (Datadog, SolarWinds, etc.).
  • Scripting Skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
  • Strong Troubleshooting Skills.
  • Basic Networking Skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with containers and container orchestration tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Familiarity with pipeline automations, git, infrastructure as code, and secrets management.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools, such as Salt, Ansible, or Chef.
