About the position

ManTech is seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to join their team in Maryland. This role involves building DevOps technologies on AWS and Openstack platforms, leading a team of integrators and developers, and ensuring the technical integrity of systems engineering deliverables. The position offers a hybrid work environment with up to 80 hours of telework per month and requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Build DevOps technologies on the AWS and Openstack platforms for the MASH Project.
  • Lead a team of integrators & developers, using ticketing (Jira & Gitlab), and Git workflow to maintain code bases.
  • Lead design and development activities, guiding system development and implementation planning.
  • Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and associated problems.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables in the Systems Engineering area.
  • Manage and develop system requirements for production systems delivery.
  • Support private cloud SSP policies.
  • Establish and gain approval of system definitions under development.
  • Automate container image build processes leveraging AWS EC2 Launch Templates & Gitlab CI/CD.
  • Create customizable Ansible pre & post deployment playbooks.
  • Provide SME support for existing legacy Openstack region deployments.
  • Develop project team technical documentation and customer-facing wiki documentation.
  • Develop system Architecture and system design documentation.
  • Define methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for system verification against requirements.
  • Assess program risks and determine probability of occurrence and consequences of failure.
  • Analyze user requirements and develop system requirements specifications.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and advise on alternative approaches.
  • Communicate with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

Requirements

  • Fifteen (15) years' experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity.
  • Experience with Agile software development practices and processes.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation development & presentation skills.
  • Experience interacting with senior and executive level leaders.
  • Ability to lead a team of integrators and developers, utilizing ticketing systems such as Jira and/or Gitlab.

Nice-to-haves

  • Twenty (20) years experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline.
  • Experience with Openstack components/tools: Rook-ceph, Cinder, Nova, Neutron, Horizon.
  • Familiarity with development tools/languages: Erlang, PXE, JSON/YAML, Puppet, Ansible, Kolla, Docker.
