About the position

Parsons Corporation is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to support missile hardware engineering within the Propulsion and Structures Division of the THAAD Missile Product Office. This role involves working in a cross-functional team to provide technical expertise on missile components, assist in design updates, and ensure the successful integration and testing of missile systems.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate into a cross-functional team and support the focal point for THAAD Missile hardware development, integration, test, production, and sustainment.
  • Provide technical expertise on missile components including thrust vector actuator, boost motor, shroud, kill vehicle midbody, divert and attitude control system (DACS), and ordnance systems.
  • Interface with senior engineers in the technical review of emerging THAAD Missile design updates.
  • Provide technical expertise and team guidance related to technologies utilized in missile hardware components.
  • Assist the team by reviewing test plans, requirements, and evaluation of component/interceptor performance related to updates and design changes.
  • Plan, define, evaluate, and monitor contract tasks involving THAAD Missile design, development, evaluation, test, and production.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM program and 3+ years of engineering experience with design, development, testing, manufacturing, or sustainment of mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Understanding and application of sound engineering principles related to component design, interoperability, failure investigation, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience working in a high intensity environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to include creation and presentation of briefing materials.
  • Strong computer skills - working knowledge of MS office suite of tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with mechanical or electrical systems, including components listed above.
  • Knowledge of structural or propulsion operations, mechanical integration, thermal requirements and analysis.
  • Detailed design and manufacturing experience with high reliability missile components qualified to demanding environments.
  • Experience applying engineering and DOD acquisition process, policies, procedures, and practices, including entrance and exit criteria evaluation prior to formal design reviews.
  • Leadership skills for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling engineering teams.
