About the position

The Systems Engineer position at KBR involves facilitating design changes primarily for NASA's Mission Training Center, with potential work on other systems. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to capture requirements and drive change requests through the Systems Engineering lifecycle, ensuring effective communication and teamwork in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the customer, users, and engineers to effectively analyze user requirements, user stories, and operations concepts.
  • Perform high level requirement assessments and facilitate detailed assessments by the MSOC technical organizations.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for work components.
  • Create and/or update all documentation for design and change instruments.
  • Perform post data processing, post data reduction, and data mining.
  • Perform analysis, assessments, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Lead systems architecture design and integration efforts.
  • Provide Systems Engineering support to the MSOC implementing organizations.
  • Communicate inward to the MSOC organization and outward to customer contacts.
  • Work effectively in a team setting to collaborate ideas.

Requirements

  • Requires BS in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar technical degree plus 0 - 5 years of related experience.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and professionally represent the MSOC organization.
  • Highly motivated individual willing to learn and apply new concepts, tools, and software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, especially with other organizations.
  • Strong personal initiative.
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of human spaceflight requirements.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of the NASA JSC Mission Training Center Sub-Systems.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITIL workflow toolset.
  • Experience across various areas of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, and documentation.
  • Experience with agile development practices.
