About the position

The Systems Engineer at Science, Engineering, Management Solutions LLC (Sem-Sol) plays a crucial role in enhancing the company's engineering processes and capabilities. This position focuses on integrating systems and translating technical capabilities into comprehensible language for the Department of Defense and aerospace sectors. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and engineering expertise to work collaboratively with internal teams and external clients, ensuring successful project outcomes in the defense contracting industry.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with the Department of Defense and large aerospace companies.
  • Collaborate with the chief engineer and program managers on various projects.
  • Generate, analyze, decompose, and review requirements with customers.
  • Create and maintain interface control documents, validation and verification plans, and test plans.
  • Manage configuration processes and perform functional analysis, trade studies, and requirements allocation.
  • Evaluate customer needs against system performance requirements and ensure compatibility with system interfaces.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and monitor requirements management processes, tools, risks, and opportunities.
  • Oversee analyses for reliability, maintainability, and human systems integration on subsystem and system architecture.
  • Formalize the system engineering approach and tools to be used at Sem-Sol.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities.
  • Experience with hardware and software development, integration, and testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Physics, Engineering, or Math.
  • Degree or certification in systems engineering.
  • Previous experience as a systems engineer for a Department of Defense program.
  • Experience with software tools such as CATIA.
  • Experience with drawing release processes.
  • Experience with hardware and software configuration management.
