About the position

The Systems Engineering Team Lead for the Gateway Project Wireless Access Point (WAP) at Aerodyne Industries, LLC is responsible for managing the systems engineering activities related to the Gateway Program. This role involves overseeing engineering flight project schedules, procurement documentation, and system requirements, while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and practices. The position requires collaboration with a diverse team to support NASA's deep space exploration initiatives, focusing on the development and verification of systems that benefit both space exploration and terrestrial applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SE activities of the Gateway Program Wireless Access Point (WAP)
  • Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents
  • Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages
  • Conduct product life cycle reviews and coordinate integration, verification and validation activities
  • Align requirements with hardware specifications and understand verifications
  • Perform system engineering functions and provide user input feedback during the design process
  • Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware
  • Review verification and validation reports for compliance with requirements
  • Participate in system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses
  • Participate in test, verification, and operation of the as-built hardware
  • Identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses
  • Present schedule and progress to customers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience in systems engineering or related area
  • 10 years of relevant experience in systems engineering
  • Knowledge of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies including model-based systems engineering
  • Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings, and material selection
  • Ability to prepare written documents and present verbally at meetings
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Experience working in a team environment

Nice-to-haves

  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork
  • Experience with NASA processes
  • Knowledge and experience with DOORS Next Generation
