About the position

The Systems Engineer at CVS Health will focus on managing and enhancing z/OS software lifecycle methodologies across various vendor solutions. This role is crucial for providing data-driven business solutions, overseeing security measures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement custom solutions that meet business needs. The engineer will also be responsible for maintaining multi-vendor z/OS software products and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage multi-vendor z/OS software products
  • Leverage various z/OS products/utilities
  • Develop and deploy best practice solutions in alignment with business requirements
  • Provide support for complex technical and operational issues, driving problem resolution through root cause determination
  • Produce control evidence for various audit inquiries
  • Interact with vendors to plan and implement z/OS system upgrades
  • Work effectively within Change and Problem Management structures
  • Engage in the development and execution of continuity and recovery plans
  • Participate in on-call rotation

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in Large Scale Mainframe computing environments
  • 5+ years experience with z/OS software lifecycle management
  • 3+ years experience with IBM Systems Automation and Netview deployment and customization
  • 3+ years experience with Mainframe Security product deployment and customization

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong understanding of database optimization and performance tuning
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and skill enhancement
  • A strong strategic mindset with the ability to align IT initiatives with business goals, driving value through technology
  • Deep knowledge of disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing within IBM environments
  • Advanced skills in security management, including audit journal analysis, compliance with security frameworks, and mitigation of security risks
  • Strong experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and third-party software integration
