About the position

As a Systems Integration Engineer specializing in Antenna Systems at Viasat, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to designing and developing advanced Remote Sensing Antenna Systems and Satellite Communications Terminals. Your role will involve a variety of tasks that are crucial to the successful integration and testing of these systems. You will be responsible for the design and documentation of cabling interfaces between and within major assemblies on antenna systems, ensuring that all components are selected and integrated according to specifications. This position requires a strong mechanical background, as you will also assist in the assembly of the mechanical structures of the antenna systems both at Viasat's facility and in the field. Your daily responsibilities will include performing basic network planning and setup activities, participating in customer design reviews, and preparing test plans and procedures. You will conduct factory and site acceptance tests, preparing technical reports that summarize your findings and recommend solutions to any technical problems encountered. Additionally, you will direct the selection and setup of specialized test equipment, including BER, Group Delay, G/T, or Servo response testing. Maintaining good customer relations will be essential, as you will represent Viasat on-site during these activities. You will also be expected to create detailed documents using AutoCAD, such as interconnects, schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable drawings. Maintaining an indentured drawing list and structuring a bill of materials for ordering parts will be part of your responsibilities. You will share the lead role during the integration and testing of antenna systems at both the factory and customer sites, conducting system-level testing such as G/T, EIRP, BERT, and servo dynamics with support from your team.
