About the position

Oceaneering Space Systems (OSS) is at the forefront of developing, integrating, and applying innovative technologies to tackle the challenges of working in space and other extreme environments. As a Systems Integration Lead Engineer for the GRAIL Lab, you will play a pivotal role in supporting NASA's endeavors under the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage deeply with human spaceflight and deep space exploration programs, ensuring that our services not only meet but exceed all standards and expectations. In this role, you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert and Systems Integration Lead Engineer for the integration activities of the Gateway Ready Avionic Integration Lab (GRAIL), which is a critical component of the Gateway Program aimed at returning to the Moon. You will collaborate closely with lab personnel, partners, providers, and testing stakeholders to understand interface and testing requirements, leveraging your knowledge to ensure that lab design meets the necessary interfaces and fidelity for successful testing outcomes. Your responsibilities will include developing expertise in lab verification efforts, assisting in lab equipment testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure that all equipment meets the required specifications and is satisfactorily integrated. You will maintain meticulous documentation of integration processes, equipment specifications, configurations, and testing results, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Additionally, you will provide support to lab personnel and external customers regarding integrated systems and their specifications, continuously reassessing documents, policies, and procedures for future lab configurations. This position requires a strong commitment to quality and detail, as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert and Systems Integration Lead Engineer for the integration activities of the Gateway Ready Avionic Integration Lab (GRAIL).
  • Collaborate with lab personnel, partners, providers, and testing stakeholders to understand interface and testing requirements.
  • Leverage interface knowledge to assure lab design provides the proper interfaces and fidelity to satisfy testing objectives.
  • Develop expertise on lab verification efforts and ensure facility is applicable for assigned testing.
  • Assist in lab equipment testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure equipment meets requirements and is satisfactorily integrated.
  • Maintain strict documentation of integration processes, equipment specifications, configurations, and testing results.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Provide support to lab personnel and external customers on integrated systems and their specifications.
  • Continuously reassess documents, policies, and procedures for future configurations of the lab.
  • Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews.
  • Communicate and organize to efficiently work within a team environment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience integrating complex hardware and software systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, diagnostic, and debugging skills.
  • Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five (5) years of experience in the field.
  • Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork is a plus.
  • Experience with NASA processes is a plus.
