About the position

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Systems Network Engineer L2. This position is pivotal in providing system management support with a focus on the design, specification, integration, and implementation of enterprise-wide management architecture. The role involves working on complex distributed networks that encompass multiple classification enclaves and are integrated with Department of Defense (DoD) Command and Control (C2) systems. The successful candidate will utilize associated information assurance processes and procedures to ensure the integrity and security of the network systems. As a Systems Network Engineer L2, you will be responsible for managing and supporting a variety of technologies, including network devices such as switches and routers, server operating systems, and virtualization infrastructures like VMware and Nutanix. You will also oversee server application monitoring, VoIP telephony, and the management of network and server performance using tools such as SolarWinds. Your expertise will extend to DHCP, DNS, IPAM, and security measures involving Palo Alto firewalls, IPS/IDS, and compliance systems like the DoD Host Based Security System (HBSS) and the Assured Compliance Assessment System (ACAS). The role requires a proactive approach to implementing and configuring systems, ensuring disaster recovery protocols are in place, and protecting data at rest. You will also be involved in log management and security information and event management (SIEM), applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to maintain compliance and security standards. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in network engineering and a passion for supporting DoD programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide system management support focusing on design, specification, integration, and implementation of enterprise-wide management architecture.
  • Manage and support complex distributed networks with multiple classification enclaves integrated with DoD C2 systems.
  • Implement and configure network devices including switches and routers, server operating systems, and virtualization infrastructure.
  • Oversee server application monitoring and VoIP telephony systems.
  • Utilize SolarWinds for network and server management, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Manage DHCP, DNS, and IPAM services effectively.
  • Implement security measures using Palo Alto firewalls and IPS/IDS systems.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD security protocols including HBSS and ACAS.
  • Conduct server disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Protect data at rest and manage log information for security purposes.
  • Apply STIGs to maintain security compliance and integrity.

Requirements

  • Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
  • 3+ years of hands-on professional experience as a Senior Network Engineer for programs/projects of similar size and scope.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Senior Network Engineer supporting a DoD program of similar size and scope.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or IT related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
  • Possess IAT/IAM Level II or greater certification.
  • Experience with network devices, server operating systems, and virtualization technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle and MS-SQL databases.
  • Familiarity with Red Seal and security compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of advanced disk subsystem and networking configuration.
