About the position

The Systems Network Engineer (UAS) at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is responsible for providing technical advice and assistance in the development of an Operations Center that supports UAS Traffic Management (UTM) operations. This role involves managing data networks, integrating various sensor feeds, and ensuring effective communication protocols between the Operations Center and UAS Service Suppliers. The position requires collaboration with a team of experts to achieve project objectives and maintain security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and assistance on the development of an Operations Center for UAS Traffic Management (UTM) operations.
• Integrate and display a comprehensive airspace picture using multiple sensor feeds, including FAA Air Traffic Control Radars, ADS-B, acoustic sensor systems, and weather monitoring systems.
• Develop effective protocols and interface specifications for the flow of air traffic information between the Operations Center and UAS Service Suppliers.
• Establish physical and cyber-security requirements for the Operations Center and its connected data networks.
• Design the physical layout of the Operations Center, including workstations, servers, information displays, and communications systems, along with a network diagram for internal device connections.
• Collaborate with UAS and UTM subject matter experts, software engineers, and UAS operators to accomplish project objectives.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience managing data networks for UAS Traffic Management (UTM) operations.
• Ability to operate independently and integrate into an existing team of system developers.
• Experience coordinating with external engineers and subject matter experts.
