About the position

The Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor for the Department of Transportation Engineering District 6-0 is responsible for overseeing the Systems Performance Management section, focusing on traffic control initiatives and the optimal functionality of traffic signal systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This role emphasizes public safety, performance monitoring, and the implementation of connected vehicle technology, while also managing cybersecurity measures and troubleshooting communication issues within the fiber network.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Systems Performance Management section and serve as a direct aide to the Assistant District Executive for Transportation Systems Management.
  • Manage various phases of the District's traffic control initiatives, ensuring optimal functionality of traffic signal systems and ITS.
  • Supervise performance monitoring for the department's essential network and ensure maintenance activities are conducted effectively.
  • Coordinate network support from the Bureau of Information Operations (BIO) and implement necessary cybersecurity measures.
  • Manage the implementation of connected vehicle technology to promote sustainable infrastructure design.
  • Design, review, and integrate intricate ITS traffic control systems and system engineering requirements.
  • Troubleshoot communication issues within the fiber network and evaluate the performance of the Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC) systems.

Requirements

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate, or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline, or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, an Engineer-in-Training certificate, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
