About the position

The Systems Performance Management Supervisor is a senior civil engineering role within the Department of Transportation, focusing on overseeing traffic control initiatives and ensuring the optimal functionality of traffic signal systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This position involves supervising performance monitoring, managing maintenance activities, coordinating network support, and implementing cybersecurity measures to protect transportation systems. The role also emphasizes the design and integration of complex ITS traffic control systems and troubleshooting communication issues within the fiber network.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Systems Performance Management section and assist the Assistant District Executive for Transportation Systems Management.
  • Manage various phases of the District's traffic control initiatives, focusing on traffic signal systems and ITS.
  • Supervise performance monitoring for the department's traffic signal systems infrastructure.
  • Coordinate network support from the Bureau of Information Operations (BIO).
  • Implement necessary cybersecurity measures for signal and ITS systems.
  • Manage the implementation of connected vehicle technology for sustainable infrastructure design.
  • Design, review, and integrate ITS traffic control systems and system engineering requirements.
  • Troubleshoot communication issues within the fiber network.
  • Evaluate the performance of the Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC) systems.

Requirements

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate; or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, an Engineer-in-Training certificate, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
