About the position

The Systems Programmer Senior role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate and support IBM iSeries systems. The position requires analyzing and troubleshooting complex system issues, researching new technologies, and participating in system upgrades and disaster recovery strategies. The role is focused on ensuring system efficiency and reliability while providing high-quality support services to internal customers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with system administrators, database administrators, and application developers to integrate and support IBM iSeries systems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex system issues on the IBM iSeries platform, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and enhancements for the IBM iSeries platform, recommending improvements to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery strategies on the IBM iSeries platform.
  • Document system configurations, technical specifications, and procedures for the IBM iSeries environment.
  • Monitor operations to ensure adherence to service level standards and company/department policies and procedures.
  • Ensure professional and courteous support services are delivered to promote a productive and positive relationship with end users.
  • Assess and validate application changes during change windows over the week and weekend.
  • Create cabling diagrams as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge in an IBM iSeries (AS400) environment.
  • Basic knowledge in Windows applications & Windows Systems knowledge.
  • Exposure to working on Incident tickets, Problem tickets, Change tickets, and Request Tickets.
  • Knowledge of IBM iSeries (AS400) servers (required).
  • Basic Windows Server functionalities.
  • Experience with IBM MQ, Advanced Job Scheduler and/or VIOS.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of IBM Storage Array and configuration of BMRS.
  • Experience with configuration of IBM Tape Libraries.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or other related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to discuss technical solutions with internal and external parties.
  • Organized approach to manage and adapt priorities according to client and internal requirements.
  • Self-starter with a team mindset, able to work autonomously and as part of a global team.
