About the position

The Systems Safety Engineer - Munitions at Anduril Industries is responsible for leading the certification efforts for munitions, warheads, ignition, and fuzing systems. This role involves defining and commissioning infrastructure from scratch, managing safety and certification processes, and ensuring compliance with military standards. The engineer will work closely with program leaders in a dynamic environment to capture and define product requirements, design, implementation, testing, and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead certification efforts for munitions, warheads, ignition, and fuzing systems.
  • Create, review, manage, and present critical documentation packages internally and to customers.
  • Engage with technical and business line teams to ensure safety/certification information is accurate.
  • Plan and document testing, analysis, and review milestones to minimize review process timelines.
  • Advise product teams on compliant designs that meet MIL-STD(s).
  • Document root cause and corrective actions relevant to the review process.
  • Oversee updates to project deliverables including requirements documentation and change control.
  • Create frameworks for government reviews and system certifications to aid future programs.
  • Manage key vendors' design efforts as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in design, safety, certification, and systems engineering of an ordnance system.
  • Experience with Warhead/Fuse review boards.
  • Knowledge of Warhead/Fuse/Ignition Safety Devices.
  • Extensive knowledge of compliance standards such as 1901-A, MIL-STD-1316, JOTP-51.
  • Experience in munitions system certification or qualification.
  • Experience preparing formal documentation (specifications, test procedures, technical reports).
  • Excellent written and slide documentation skills with attention to clarity and accuracy.
