About the position

Lockheed Martin is seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer to join the Safety Integration Team as a Safety Review Board (SRB) Coordinator. This role is critical in maintaining the safety standards of the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program, which has been a cornerstone of the Navy's strategic defense for over 60 years. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and convening Safety Review Boards, ensuring that safety assessments are conducted thoroughly and in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position requires a deep understanding of safety protocols and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in evaluating missile system designs and modifications to ensure compliance with safety requirements. As the SRB Coordinator, you will maintain a working familiarity with Lockheed Martin's safety policies and procedures, and you will be tasked with managing the SRB process and schedule for multiple projects simultaneously. You will engage with project teams during the proposal stage to assess the necessary safety involvement and will review Entrance and Exit Criteria prior to Technical Reviews. Your role will also involve close collaboration with Navy counterparts and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic safety processes. This position is not only about ensuring compliance but also about fostering a culture of safety within the organization, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong leadership and communication skills. The FBM program is experiencing significant growth, and this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of new technologies that enhance national security. This position is based in Cape Canaveral, FL, and offers a part-time remote work option, allowing for flexibility in work schedules, including a 9x80 schedule that provides every other Friday off.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a working familiarity with LM/FBM safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Coordinate and convene Safety Review Boards to assess the safety of the program/project.
  • Ensure Safety Review Board Meetings are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
  • Lead the Safety Review Team (SRT) and assemble teams of engineers/SMEs to evaluate missile system safety.
  • Establish a quorum with the SRT on the safety posture/readiness of a project and escalate concerns/recommendations.
  • Work closely with Navy counterparts and senior leadership to develop and integrate strategic safety processes.
  • Manage the SRB process and schedule for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Engage with project teams during the proposal stage to determine the extent of safety involvement.
  • Review and adjudicate Entrance and Exit Criteria prior to Technical Reviews.

Requirements

  • Experience with Systems Disciplines in Systems Safety, Range Safety, Nuclear Weapon Surety/Survivability, Reentry, or knowledge of missile systems.
  • Experience with project schedules and Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAMs).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance; US Citizenship is required.
