About the position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Systems Schedule Engineer to join its Integrated Cost and Schedule Analysis (iCASA) Department. This role involves supporting space and ground acquisition program offices by delivering programmatic and technical analyses for decision-making. The engineer will develop and maintain integrated master schedules, conduct schedule diagnostics, and support engineering trade studies, among other responsibilities. The position offers a hybrid work model and is located at one of several Aerospace Corporation locations, with a strong preference for El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Support space and ground acquisition program offices, delivering programmatic and technical analyses for decision-making.
  • Develop, status, and maintain integrated master schedules (IMSs) and master phasing schedules (MPS) ensuring adherence to scheduling best practices.
  • Conduct schedule diagnostics and metrics, including DCMA 14-Point assessments and GAO Best Practices, providing informed recommendations based on thorough analysis.
  • Support engineering trade studies, program baseline development, proposal evaluations, and the creation and maintenance of in-house simulation tools and models.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and development of schedule risk assessments (SRAs) to support government procurement of cost-effective space systems.
  • Organize professional community events, such as conferences, seminars, and industry forums.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster engagement and growth.
  • Mentor early career/junior staff, offering technical guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Synthesize information from multiple sources into well-crafted narratives and deliverables that support decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
  • 8 or more years of progressive experience in scheduling and schedule analysis, including detailed expertise in developing integrated master schedules for space and launch system acquisitions.
  • Experience with ground systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining MS Project schedules and familiarity with industry-standard schedule tools, models, methodologies, and databases.
  • Experience conducting Schedule Risk Analyses (SRAs), with familiarity in using SRA tools.
  • Experience in schedule modeling and simulation, with advanced programming skills strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Willingness to travel domestically, approximately 10%.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the U.S. government (U.S. citizenship required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • Prior leadership experience, especially in source selections and evaluation processes.
  • Knowledge of Cost Estimation, Earned Value Management, and Program Planning processes.
  • Experience with ground/IT systems and software development schedule analysis.
  • Expertise in using industry-standard scheduling tools (ACEIT-JACS, Acumen Fuse, Full Monte, Microsoft Project, Milestones Pro, Primavera, Steelray, WBS Schedule Pro, etc.).
  • Experience in programming and modeling, particularly for tools analyzing space, ground, and launch system schedules.
  • Teaching experience in technical fields.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, PSP, CSEP, ESEP).
  • Current NASA AUID, DoD TS, and/or SSBI/SCI clearance.
