About the position

Apple's Platform Architecture group is seeking a cloud-focused systems software engineer to develop and support new technologies for chip development and verification in the cloud. This role involves collaborating with engineers across Apple to build and deploy prototype systems that enhance the integration of hardware and software. The engineer will work closely with internal customers to understand their needs and improve their experience with the platform, while maintaining high-quality standards in the team's codebase and service architecture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support new technologies for chip development and verification in the cloud.
• Collaborate with internal customers to understand their requirements and workflows.
• Propose new features and ecosystem changes to streamline user experience.
• Share ownership of the team's codebase, service architecture, and tools.
• Maintain a high-quality bar to ensure optimal development velocity.
• Work independently and lead deliverables to different teams.
• Occasional travel to development groups in the US and overseas.

Requirements

• BS degree and a minimum of 20 years relevant industry experience.
• Understanding and practical experience with HTTP, DNS, RPC frameworks, databases, and operating systems.
• Good understanding of Cloud security concepts, including Authentication/Authorization frameworks and tools.
• Experience with RPC frameworks (e.g., gRPC, Thrift).
• Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, Redis, Postgres).
• Knowledge of containers (Docker).
• Good programming skills in Go, Swift, C++, and scripting skills in Python, YAML.
• Ability to debug complex systems.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and documentation skills.
• Experience with container orchestration (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes).
• Exposure to Silicon workflows.
