Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and repair electronic communications equipment associated with the citywide trunked communications system.
• Test faulty equipment using instruments such as digital analyzers, oscilloscopes, and voltmeters.
• Repair equipment by replacing defective components, rewiring, and adjusting mechanical parts.
• Follow schematics and wiring diagrams to perform repairs and installations.
• Document work activities, materials used, and purchase requests accurately.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to less experienced technicians.
• Supervise subordinate technicians by assigning work and reviewing work products.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and skill in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial UHF and VHF radio systems.
• Knowledge of trunked radio system concepts and digital electronics.
• Skill in interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to supervise and make work-related decisions.
• Possession of a valid driver's license (Operator).
