About the position

The TRiO Project Coordinator at Virginia Peninsula Community College is responsible for implementing the TRiO program at the Historic Triangle campus. This role involves recruiting, managing, and coordinating academic, personal, career, financial, and transfer services for TRiO students to achieve enrollment, retention, graduation, and transfer objectives. The coordinator will also assist non-TRiO students during peak times and perform other duties as assigned, ensuring a supportive educational environment for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the TRiO program at the Historic Triangle campus.
  • Recruit and manage TRiO students, providing academic, personal, career, financial, and transfer services.
  • Meet enrollment, retention, graduation, and transfer objectives of the grant.
  • Assist non-TRiO students during high-volume periods such as registration.
  • Conduct presentations and participate in committee work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional experience in a TRiO federal program or similar program for disenfranchised students.
  • Knowledge of academic advising and related services for TRiO-eligible students.
  • Experience with assessment and data collection, learning styles, and learning assistance strategies.
  • Knowledge of ADA and disability services.
  • Understanding of transfer processes from two- to four-year institutions.
  • Demonstrated skills in using interactive technology and social networking in a college environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Social Work, Education, Counseling, or related field.
