About the position

The TRiO Project Coordinator at Virginia Peninsula Community College is responsible for implementing the TRiO program at the Historic Triangle campus. This role involves recruiting, managing, and coordinating academic, personal, career, financial, and transfer services for TRiO students to meet enrollment, retention, graduation, and transfer objectives. The coordinator will also assist non-TRiO students during peak times and perform various duties as assigned, contributing to the college's mission of empowering students and enhancing community vitality.

Responsibilities

• Implement the TRiO program at the Historic Triangle campus.
• Recruit and manage TRiO students, providing academic, personal, career, financial, and transfer services.
• Meet enrollment, retention, graduation, and transfer objectives of the TRiO grant.
• Assist non-TRiO students during high-volume periods, such as registration.
• Conduct presentations and participate in committee work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Professional experience in a TRiO federal program or similar program for students from disenfranchised backgrounds.
• Knowledge of academic advising, financial aid, and economic literacy activities.
• Experience with assessment and data collection, learning styles, and learning assistance strategies.
• Knowledge of ADA and disability services.
• Familiarity with transfer issues from two- to four-year institutions.
• Demonstrated skills in using interactive technology and social networking in a college environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including database management and report generation.

• Master's degree in Higher Education, Social Work, Education, Counseling, or a related field.
