About the position

As an Application Engineer at Schaeffler, you will play a crucial role in defining specifications and product performance requirements through direct interaction with customers. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with product development engineers to ensure that the product data aligns with customer applications. You will lead team meetings, track project progress, and manage changes related to product and budget to ensure that all projects meet their defined targets. Reporting project status to Schaeffler management will be a key part of your role, focusing on quality, timing, cost (QTC), and project budget. Additionally, you will be responsible for completing and signing off the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) in collaboration with customers and development engineers. You will also initiate and conduct the System Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) with customer engineers and support the development of the Design FMEA. Responsibilities

  • Define specifications (SOR, product performance requirements) through customer interaction
  • Define concept and product data to fit customer application, jointly with product development engineer
  • Lead team meetings and track project, product, and budget changes to ensure project meets defined targets
  • Report project status to Schaeffler management as related to quality, timing, cost (QTC) and project budget
  • Complete and sign off the DVP&R together with the customer and development engineer
  • Initiate and conduct the System FMEA with customer engineer and support development of the Design FMEA

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, but other engineering degrees or equivalent technical experience will be considered
  • Ability to manage customer projects independently
  • Ability to manage project progress in terms of quality, time, and costs (QTC)
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office Software
  • Experience with project management software
  • Good command of engineering principles - materials, design, dynamics, structures, manufacturing
  • Knowledge of APQP requirements
