About the position

The T1D Community Relations and Education Manager (CORE) position is a vital role within the Patient Support Services Team, aimed at making a significant impact on the lives of patients, families, and communities affected by Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). This position is based in Chicago, IL, with additional locations in Des Moines, IA, Kansas City, MO, Minneapolis, MN, and St. Louis, MO. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading education and awareness initiatives regarding T1D, focusing on disease state and screening in specific geographic areas, both virtually and in-person. In this role, the manager will share critical education on risk factors and screening processes directly with patients, families, and community groups, whether in group settings or one-on-one interactions. The manager will execute screening events in collaboration with patient groups, community organizations, health systems, and medical offices. Additionally, the position involves educating health system stakeholders about developing screening infrastructure and best practices for implementation, ensuring that patients have improved access to screening services. The manager will also work closely with external stakeholders and internal cross-functional partners to identify local community screening barriers and develop actionable plans for resolution. Accountability for executing these action plans and driving success is essential. Collaboration with local and regional advocacy groups to enhance education about screening within their communities is also a key responsibility. The role requires extensive travel, estimated at 50-70%, to effectively engage with various stakeholders and execute the outlined responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Leads education and awareness efforts about disease state and screening in concentrated geographic areas virtually and in-person
  • Shares education on risk and screening directly to patients, families, and community groups (group setting and 1:1)
  • Executes screening events with patient groups, community groups, health systems, and offices
  • Educates health system and office accounts about identifying ideal approaches and pathways to improve screening access
  • Delivers education to health system stakeholders on screening infrastructure development and best practices for implementation
  • Supports leads within accounts focused on screening implementation in identifying ideal approaches and pathways to improve access to screening for patients
  • Works with external stakeholders and internal cross-functional partners to identify local community screening barriers and develop action plans for resolution
  • Demonstrates accountability for action plan execution, and drives for success and results
  • Collaborates with local and regional advocacy groups to improve education about screening for their communities
  • Coordinates with matrix teams and other critical functions to share logistical information and relevant insights about shared accounts

Requirements

  • 2+ years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English required
  • Bilingual/Spanish highly desirable
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to collaborate with field partners and internal colleagues to reach common goals
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Bachelor's Degree required / Master's Degree preferred
  • Licensed registered nurse, registered dietician nutritionist, and/or certified diabetes care and education specialist preferred
  • Clinical practice and healthcare administration experience preferred
  • Experience in Type 1 Diabetes, Endocrinology, Autoimmune specialties preferred
