About the position

The State of Connecticut's Department of Children and Families is seeking a Senior Tableau Report Developer/ETL to support the development and maintenance of critical applications used by social workers and case managers. This role involves participating in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, focusing on the creation and maintenance of Tableau reports, SSRS reports, and SSIS ETL packages, while ensuring effective data integration and quality management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Tableau Reports based on user requirements.
  • Assist in designing and developing database architecture including relational data structures and data models.
  • Develop strategies for data acquisition, quality, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Assist in migrating and integrating data from legacy systems to new applications.
  • Develop and maintain custom SQL scripts and stored procedures using Microsoft T-SQL.
  • Access data from various database management systems such as DB2 and SQL Server.
  • Design and implement ETL/ELT solutions for data ingestion and cleansing.
  • Coordinate with Business Analysts to validate requirements and ensure data integrity.
  • Perform tests and validate data flows according to business requirements.
  • Design and implement data conversion strategies from legacy to new platforms.
  • Optimize SSIS package execution and SQL performance for data load efficiency.
  • Involve in all stages of data processing including requirements gathering, data mapping, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with more than 5 years specifically in Tableau development.
  • 5+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries and expertise in TSQL, SSRS, SSIS, or Talend.
  • Experience in debugging and improving query performance.
  • Experience deploying SSIS packages using version control and SQL Agent jobs.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to adapt to changing situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Salesforce and MuleSoft.
