About the position

McKinley Marketing Partners, a 24Seven Company, is seeking a Tableau Developer to join a nonprofit client based in Washington, DC. This role is integral to the digital analytics and insights team, where the primary responsibility will be to develop Tableau reporting and analytics products that enhance data access and analytics across the organization. The Tableau Developer will engage with internal stakeholders to gather requests for reporting and visualization products, ensuring the development of optimal reporting solutions that meet the needs of the organization. In this position, the Tableau Developer will design performance dashboards and applications that tell compelling stories through data. Utilizing strong data and programming skills, the developer will transform and manipulate various data sources to create insightful visualizations. The role also involves consulting with internal clients to build user stories, identifying the true business needs, and guiding clients towards the most valuable products that align with their business objectives. Documentation of end products will be essential, as the developer will maintain a catalog to track available reports and their data dependencies. The Tableau Developer will provide recommendations and insights on design elements, ensuring that clients understand how to effectively utilize the data provided. As a visual data analysis expert, the developer will deliver Tableau capabilities while collaborating with the insights team to establish best practices. This includes sharing experiences and knowledge within the group, providing quality assurance for deliverables, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of service provided to all clients. This is a long-term contract position expected to last over 12 months, and it includes a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Design performance Tableau dashboards, applications, and storytelling
  • Use data and programming skills to transform and manipulate data sources
  • Consult with internal clients on building user stories; ascertain the true business need and guide the business on the most value-add product(s) that meet the business objectives
  • Document end products via catalog to track available reports and the data dependencies
  • Provide recommendations and insights to clients on design elements
  • Understand how clients ultimately utilize the data
  • Deliver Tableau capabilities as a visual data analysis expert
  • Collaborate with the insights team to establish best practices by sharing experiences and knowledge within this group; provide quality assurance of deliverables as well as data inputs utilized
  • Provide quality, accurate, and consistent service to all clients

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in information systems, analytics, or related discipline with 5+ years of experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in Tableau, with experience in Tableau Prep
  • Prior experience in a data-driven environment (membership, health, finance, or insurance organization a plus)
  • Experience with programming with various databases is a plus
  • Decisive, quick study with proven analytical ability and strategic business and product development/management skills
  • Excellent oral/written presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with people, gain internal respect, and build consensus with superiors, peers, and subordinates
  • Analytical software skills (SAS, Apache Spark, Databricks); understanding of relational database concepts
