About the position

The Tableau Developer will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of Tableau dashboards and analytics within our organization. This position requires a strong understanding of data analytics and visual design principles, as well as a solid background in data analysis and data visualization. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business users to understand their data analysis needs and business objectives, ensuring that the dashboards and reports developed provide actionable insights that drive decision-making. In this role, the Tableau Developer will be responsible for connecting to various data sources, importing data, and transforming it for Business Intelligence purposes. They will design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports, ensuring optimal performance by employing best practices for data visualization and dashboard design. The developer will also work with database administrators to ensure that the necessary data is available and optimized for dashboard performance. Additionally, the Tableau Developer will conduct training sessions to assist other departments in utilizing Tableau effectively. They will maintain up-to-date knowledge of Tableau's functionality, best practices, and new features by attending workshops and webinars. Compliance with data governance and data security requirements is essential while developing Tableau solutions. The developer will work closely with IT and Data teams to ensure efficient system integrations and data flow for dashboard reporting, troubleshooting and performing data quality checks to ensure the highest level of accuracy in dashboards and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business users to understand their data analysis needs and business objectives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights.
  • Connect to data sources, import data, and transform data for Business Intelligence.
  • Develop and maintain data models within Tableau.
  • Ensure dashboards and reports perform optimally by optimizing as necessary.
  • Employ best practices for data visualization and Tableau dashboard design.
  • Work with database administrators to ensure necessary data is available and optimized for dashboard performance.
  • Conduct training sessions to assist other departments in the use of Tableau.
  • Maintain knowledge of Tableau's functionality, best practices, and new features by attending workshops and webinars.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and data security requirements while developing Tableau solutions.
  • Work closely with IT and Data teams to ensure system integrations and data flow efficiently for dashboard reporting.
  • Troubleshoot and perform data quality checks to ensure the highest level of accuracy in dashboards and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Proficient in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data warehouse principles.
  • Experience with SQL and knowledge of other programming languages (Python, R, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within tight timelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Tableau certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience in data modeling and data blending.
  • Experience with other BI tools such as Power BI, QlikView, or similar is a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and analysis (such as regression, clustering, etc.) is beneficial.
