About the position

Genesis10 is seeking a Tableau Platform Data Engineer for a contract position in the financial industry. The role involves managing and optimizing Tableau Server, ensuring high availability, and providing support and training to users. The position is available in Charlotte, NC, Plano, TX, and Pennington, NJ, and is expected to last for 12 months, starting on December 31, 2024.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade Tableau Server
• Monitor Tableau Server performance and ensure high availability
• Manage user permissions, data security, and governance
• Troubleshoot and resolve Tableau Server issues
• Implement best practices for server management, including backup and disaster recovery
• Collaborate with IT and BI teams to integrate Tableau Server with other data systems
• Provide training and support to Tableau users

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Tableau Server Administrator or Architect
• Strong knowledge of Tableau Server architecture and administration
• Experience with server performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Understanding of network security and data governance principles
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell
• Experience with standing up and maintaining Tableau Server in Microsoft Azure (cloud), Windows, and Linux
• Experience with industry BI/Reporting toolsets including Tableau, MicroStrategy, Cognos, Power BI, ThoughtSpot, Starburst
• Experience with connecting to Hadoop, Oracle, Sybase, DB2, Netezza, Teradata, and SQL databases
• Experience with Data Science integration and application (Python, R)
• Experience with ETL tools (Trifecta, Alteryx, SSIS, Starburst)
• Experience with programming languages (Python, APIs, Web Data Connectors, Tableau Extensions, JavaScript)
• Experience with Financial services data and large data volumes
