About the position

The Sr Reporting Specialist at Pearson's Higher Education Data and Reporting CoE is responsible for enhancing reporting capabilities by connecting data from various technology stacks. This role involves creating intuitive reports and dashboards, improving reporting processes, and collaborating with data analysts to ensure data is structured for effective visualization. The position also requires engagement with central technology teams to implement tools that enhance data accessibility and facilitate self-service data exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Data Related Efforts: Work efficiently and effectively to deliver high-value reports and dashboards in priority order.
  • Identify opportunities for how data and reporting initiatives can ‘move the needle' in pursuing OKRs.
  • Report and Dashboard Creation: Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, build dashboards, validate prototypes, and deliver continual improvements through iteration.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and look for opportunities to provide self-service dashboards and tools to replace common ad hoc requests.
  • Help define the playbook for dataset creation, report building, and data analysis conducted by the Data & Reporting COE.
  • Research best practices and industry standards to explain ‘art of the possible,' ensuring we solution and scale correctly.
  • Support initiatives to review legacy dashboards, archiving them, or bringing them up to a modern standard.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in stakeholder management, report, and dashboard creation.
  • Flair for visualizing data and understanding the importance of UX within dashboards.
  • Ability to present data insights clearly to stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Essential knowledge of Tableau and Tableau Data Prep.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Excel, Power BI, OBIA/OBIEE, Smartsheets, ServiceNow.
  • Understanding of the unique challenges and dynamics of the education industry, including student enrollment and compliance reporting.
