About the position

The Tactical Network Engineer/Analyst II at Parsons is responsible for supporting critical mission partners to enhance national security within a dynamic research and development environment. This role involves designing networks, supporting tactical sensor development, analyzing existing designs, and collaborating with various engineering teams to maximize system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design a network to integrate with existing infrastructure for effective operations at the Tactical EDGE.
  • Support tactical sensor development and deployment.
  • Analyze existing designs and prototypes, recommending modifications as needed.
  • Work with the program management team to identify and prioritize network load.
  • Conduct network testing and perform analysis on packet captures.
  • Characterize network traffic in various environments.
  • Author and execute network test plans and procedures.
  • Collaborate with government and systems engineering teams on integration issues.
  • Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements for long-term viability.
  • Implement preventative maintenance measures to minimize outages.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a network engineer.
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering, scientific, technical discipline, or comparable work experience.
  • TS/SCI clearance eligible.
  • Experience supporting USMC and US Army communications equipment.
  • Experience supporting D-DIL communications solutions.
  • Proficient in telecommunications, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and infrastructure technologies such as IEEE, EIA/TIA, SATCOM, coax, copper, and fiber.
  • Understanding of WAN, LAN, and Campus technologies, familiar with routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and IP/MPLS.
  • Experience with network analytical tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, and IPerf3.

  • Ability to communicate effectively using various styles appropriate to the audience.
  • Extensive analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organization skills.
  • Cisco certifications: CCST, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDE.
  • CompTIA certifications: Network+, Security+.
