About the position

As a Tactical Network Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our networks are designed to meet the evolving needs of our clients, particularly in the defense sector. Your expertise in network design and architecture will be essential as you work to develop and upgrade enterprise-wide infrastructure. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues, analyzing existing infrastructures, and enhancing the security, reliability, and availability of mission-critical network systems. Your role will involve applying your knowledge of routing and switching, integration of encryption gear, and various network protocols to support the Department of Defense (DoD) in deploying new capabilities and technologies. In this position, you will leverage your extensive experience in Military or Tactical Network Operations (NetOps) to manage and resolve technical issues related to both hardware and software. You will also support formal testing and fielding activities, ensuring that systems are installed and trained effectively. Your understanding of tactical and strategic military communications networks will be vital as you navigate the complexities of network management and security. You will be expected to travel up to 75% of the time, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role and the need to engage directly with clients and stakeholders in various locations. Responsibilities

  • Develop and upgrade enterprise-wide network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
  • Analyze current working infrastructures to enhance security and reliability.
  • Apply expertise in routing and switching, encryption gear integration, and network design.
  • Support the Department of Defense in evolving and deploying new capabilities and technologies.
  • Manage and resolve technical issues related to hardware and software.
  • Support formal testing, installation, and training activities for network systems.
  • Participate as a Subject Matter Expert in subsystem and system testing.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with Military or Tactical Network Operations (NetOps).
  • Experience managing and resolving technical issues of the hardware and software technical baseline.
  • Experience supporting formal testing and associated fielding, installation, and training activities.
  • Knowledge of force tactical and strategic military communications networks.
  • Knowledge of the engineering design, installation, operations, and maintenance of Tactical Network architecture.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Associate's degree in Engineering.
