About the position

ManTech is seeking a Tactical Project Manager in Herndon, VA. In this role, you will be an integral part of a high-performing software development team, responsible for the planning and execution of full life-cycle solutions. Your primary focus will be on providing project management and systems engineering support for a development team that is working on an enterprise application. Additionally, you will play a key role in establishing a new Operations & Maintenance (O&M) hybrid team. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter who is flexible and hands-on, demonstrating a willingness to adapt to the needs of the project team to achieve the customer mission. As a Tactical Project Manager, you will gather requirements, identify project needs, and organize project activities to meet tactical engineering demands. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with mission partners, coordinating and managing a diverse set of needs with various stakeholders, and ensuring that project goals and timelines are met. Your role will also involve working closely with customers and ManTech stakeholders to identify suitable offsite spaces for development and engineering activities, as well as communicating project statuses to both customer and internal leadership. You will prepare briefings and present summaries about project statuses at review board meetings, facilitate technical exchange meetings for stakeholders, and engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure that requirements are effectively defined and assessed. Additionally, you will conduct programmatic analysis and provide strategic recommendations throughout the project lifecycle, as well as analyze and monitor performance metrics of approved projects.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements, identify project needs and required tasks, organize project activities for a tactical engineering need and manage project tasks and objectives to meet the customer mission.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with mission partners.
  • Identify, coordinate, and manage an ever-expanding and evolving set of needs with different stakeholders, groups, and offices to ensure goals and timelines can be met.
  • Work with the customer and ManTech stakeholders to identify offsite space for development and engineering activities.
  • Communicate with customer and internal leadership to keep them aware of statuses related to creation, coordination, and approval of project phases.
  • Prepare briefings and present summaries about status at review board meetings.
  • Facilitate technical exchange meetings for stakeholders, as needed.
  • Engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure requirements are effectively defined and assessed.
  • Conduct programmatic analysis and provide strategic recommendations for activities or projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analyze and monitor performance metrics of approved projects.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Project Management
  • 5+ years of experience with IT project management
  • Experience with the Agile development process
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and effective decision-making skills
  • Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years supporting customers and programs in the IC Community
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical lead position
  • Experience managing hybrid (remote and onsite) teams
  • Experience in software development or software testing
  • Experience managing a software or applications development team
  • Experience serving as a Scrum Master
  • PMP or ITIL certification
