About the position

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for administering all systems, processes, and functions related to payroll within the organization. This role involves performing all tasks necessary to accomplish payroll processing objectives, which includes facilitating relationships with external vendors, auditors, and state and federal agencies. The Payroll Specialist will drive continuous improvement processes within assigned areas of responsibility and will be accountable for administering all functional activities within the scope of the payroll system. In this position, the Payroll Specialist will actively manage all activities necessary to process multi-state and multi-schedule payroll in accordance with established pay schedules. This includes maintaining and updating employee records, processing involuntary deductions such as garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, and documenting and updating payroll procedures. The role also requires ensuring compliance with all tax processing, statutory reporting, and filing requirements, working closely with Finance partners to ensure accurate and timely general ledger configuration and reporting. The Payroll Specialist is expected to ensure the highest level of payroll processing and administrative accuracy, data security, and integrity across all platforms. This includes ensuring compliance with JSOX by adhering to, evaluating, recommending, and establishing internal control requirements, maintaining documentation for payroll processes, and providing recommendations as appropriate. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will support initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of payroll administration, coordinating the interfacing and reporting of data to and from third-party vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to JSOX compliance by establishing internal controls and maintaining documentation for payroll processes.
  • Support initiatives to improve payroll administration efficiency and coordinate data interfacing with third-party vendors.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant payroll experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • Experience with UKG payroll system.
