About the position

The Assistant Shop Manager (ASM) at Take 5 Oil Change is responsible for overseeing shop operations in the absence of the Shop Manager, ensuring customer satisfaction, and leading a team of technicians. This role involves both managerial and technical duties, including customer interactions, inventory management, and performing oil change services. The ASM plays a crucial role in maintaining a positive work environment and supporting the career development of team members.

Responsibilities

  • Check in with customers before they leave the shop to ensure a great experience.
  • Assume the responsibility and authority of the Shop Manager in their absence.
  • Run the floor by ensuring each team member is in their designated position and that all vehicles are checked properly.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the shop.
  • Assist with counting and adjusting inventory levels.
  • Place supply orders as needed.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing complaints and handling claims.
  • Onboard, train, and develop team members as a management responsibility.
  • Act as a role model for other team members in the shop.
  • Set goals and hold team members accountable for their performance.
  • Assist with team member scheduling.
  • Perform all technician duties including oil changes, fluid inspections, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Must have a good understanding of oils and services offered by Take 5.
  • Ability to maneuver in and out of a shallow 3' deep pit safely.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, and perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling, and turning for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, both hot and cold.
  • Must be alert and aware of surroundings at all times.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Effective communication skills, including reading and writing in English.
